The Department of History at T.B.M.L. About the Course
The B.A. History undergraduate program is a three-year degree designed to give students a broad understanding of ancient, medieval, modern Indian history as well as global historical developments. The course focuses on political history, socio-economic trends, freedom movements, revolutions, and the shaping of modern democracies.
Students also learn historical analysis, chronological reasoning, and critical inquiry—skills essential for a variety of competitive and academic pursuits.

Offered under the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) across six semesters, the curriculum includes:
- Core Papers: Ancient Indian History, Medieval India, Modern India, History of Tamil Nadu, History of Freedom Movement, World History, History of Science and Technology
